4 Jewelry Trends to Watch for in Fall/Winter 2016-17

10/1/2016

Hello and welcome to my first blog in October. Want to know what's in jewelry wise whether for you or for gifts? It's good to be in the Know. I have done the research so you don't have to, to keep up with latest trends from off the runways.

First, I need to mention chokers. The 90's are back in many ways Fashion, and so are chokers in all widths, especially ultra-feminine chokers. Chokers can be layered with longer necklaces too, since the layered look has translated from the summer trends and continues to be a main style. So whether you wear a choker alone or layer it, sing Pearl Jam and take a trip down memory lane, recalling what you were doing in the 90's.  (or maybe not!)

Second, Earth Elements are super big. We are talking Geodes and large chunky stones, as well as raw, unfinished stones for that added bit of color. Wear as a statement piece as shown here or in large groupings or multi stones... the rawer the better.

Girls with Pearls are all the rage. Earrings, necklaces, you name it, pearls are a thing. Pearls have always finished off a look, selling elegant maturity and fueling our nostalgia for the less frenetic time of the 1950's. But when it comes to what's trending in the 21st century,  images of women in poodle skirts and housewives in heels and pearls strands are thrown to the wind. What lands is a hip, chic look that all ages can embrace.

The fourth trend to share is….big rings. One or layered, the bigger the ring the better. So glad I have some new rings on hand to show you (no pun intended) and hope this trend continues because who doesn’t love a great ring?

These trends and more can be seen on my website, www.gillianhurrie.com. Be sure to look on the New Tab to see the most recent pieces added.

Namaste and talk soon,
Gillian

Men and women have been making use of ornaments since time immemorial to beautify them. Body jewelry, which is a special kind of jewelry worn after getting body parts pierced, has been there since early times when people wore natural items like beads, stones, bones of animals and their feathers. In present times, these very items that are found in the wild and considered natural comprise what is called as organic body jewelry.

    About the Author

    -
Ever since I can remember I have worn and loved jewelry. I have pictures of myself at four years old, dripping in my mother’s long beads and clip on earrings.

Then while making jewelry as an adult, I began to wonder about the beautiful beads I was using - stones and crystals found in the earth - the colors, the swirls, the weight, and characteristics.

For years I have remained curious and open to this concept and do believe in the potential in wearing and using certain stones and crystals for added health benefits. But just like astrology, I take it as another tool in my toolbox, not someone to depend on entirely for major decision making, but to enhance my sense of well-being and with the world and nature which surround me.

I hope my blog posts peak your interest and shed light on a new topic - and if nothing else, inspire you
to pick stones which call to you and to wear more of the jewelry you love.
