![]() As you know, I enjoy making jewelry that helps one to feel inspired, possibly empowered..loved and special. How do I do that? One way is by choosing gemstones and crystals that are in tune with those energies. There is a giant wave of interest and knowledge that has been passed down since ancient times, of forms and vibrations of gemstone and crystal energies.* I love to educate myself and continue to search how I can translate this information into my jewelry and ultimately, my clients’ self-expression by wearing my designs. So let's talk about the presidential inauguration on January 20. Americans will undergo a big transition toward the end of the month. There is a lot of community building and at the very least, a larger awareness toward political views and cultural identities. I believe it's a fundamental right for us to speak up, speak out, and get your voice heard. So, some great stones for this-communication, speaking truth, having a voice- are: Amazonite, Angelite, and Turquoise to name a few. Amazonite in particular is best worn around the neck for this reason, as it physically connects to the throat (5th) chakra….the chakra governing truth in communication. If you want to set personal boundaries, wear it if you are overly concerned with opinions of others, of if you overly judge. Also less unknown is the Rudraksha seed. They are one of the most popular and traditional materials used for making mala beads. Rudra means “Lord Shiva” and Aksha means “teardrops”, making Rudraksha “Tears of Lord Shiva.” It is said that Lord Shiva went into a deep trance meditation for the well-being of all living creatures of the earth and when he finished and opened his eye tears fell to the earth. These tears were in the form of seeds which grew to trees, later being called the Rudraksha tree. These seeds help in healing the heart center and balancing the chakras, promoting inner peace, as well as granting knowledge, power, and enlightenment. Speaking of knowledge and enlightenment, meet the next Astrological sign in the zodiac: Aquarius (born January 20-February 18). These people (my husband is one) are considered the Great Awakeners- altruistic, humane people who are determined to make a difference. Aquarians are visionaries, progressive people often thinking about how things can be better. Making the world a better place is a collaborative effort for Aquarians-perfect for an America changing and evolving daily. Hope on the ride by wearing jewelry with Turquoise (health, peace and inner calm) , Tiger Eye (strength/balancing extremes), and definitely Quartz Crystal. Quartz Crystal (good for intention/focus/spiritual development) is powerful. It can stimulate the positive and brings clarity on all levels. Traditionally this crystal harmonizes and aligns human energies (thought, consciousness and emotions) with the energy of the universe, thus creating outward harmony. It dispels confusion and will bring the wearer mental clarity and heightened spiritual awareness. Whatever happens toward the end of January consider yourself in the Know. Enjoy! Namaste, Gillian *NOTE TO BELIEVERS AND SKEPTICS OF STONE ENERGIES: Certain crystals and quartz are used are transducers of electromagnetic energies (think crystal radio receivers and quartz crystals in watches.) With this in mind, it is not too much to consider that stones may also be capable of transmitting or amplifying other energy not yet detected by science. Yet biophysicists are now implying the physical bodies of human beings are liquid crystals. * If we ourselves are crystal-like, you can imagine how the energy of a stone may “flow” through the body. If you are interested in working with stones to help with emotional and physical self-healing, you are encouraged. Please note that this information cannot yet be proven entirely through science.
