HEMATITE-iron oxide mineral
Key Words: Grounding, Balance, Clarity
Chakras: Root (1st); Magnetic Hematite-all
Affirmation: I am grounded, balanced and clear as to where I am headed.

Hi again and welcome to my blog, this time about one of my faves, Hematite. I love Hematite. It is a rich, steel/silver-grey color that is slightly heavier to the touch and matches every stone I pair it with. But what it can possibly do healing-wise is even more potent, so read on.
Emotionally, Hematite is known as the "Stone of the Mind" and is most effective for grounding your body, bringing you down from feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and frazzled. It helps to generate a meditative state, paving the way for grounding, tranquility emotional and mental clarity.  It decreases negativity and can help balance the body/mind/spirit.  Seen as having both male and female polarities, it creates a balanced energy, toward unity and enlightenment.
Physically, it is detoxing and believed to support the liver, blood ailments and iron absorption. Magnetic Hematite is good for muscle injuries and pain relief It is often made into jewelry with the sole purpose to encourage better circulation and spine alignment.
Some of us, myself included, with cold hands and feet, may find some relief while wearing Hematite, as it may help blood circulation.
Now about meditation with this stone~Don’t let meditation intimidate you! Try this simplified meditation I created. Have Hematite in hand or near by, if you have it, but you don’t need it to get the benefits.
Meditation with Hematite: Close your eyes and place one hand on your heart, one hand on your belly. Start taking deeper breaths, expanding your belly with each inhale and fee and connecting with your heart mindfully with each exhale. Continue this for many breaths until you start to feel more centered and relaxed.
Imagine your breath pumping your life force, or prana, through your veins. Focus on what a healthy, warm body would feel like. See in your minds’ eye your own healthy cells, iron rich blood, and vitality in a never ending cycle of rhythm and flow. Everything inside you is in a constant state of motion as it warms and nurtures you. Your blood flow is rich and cleansing. Your mind is sharp and focused. There is no negativity. You are your liver, your lungs, your heart. You are your skin, your bones, your joints. You are healthy and whole. Continue to breathe deeply into your hands, allowing your spine to grow longer  and stronger. You radiate health. You have color in your cheeks, warm hands, warm feet, and the warmest heart.
Place your hands in your lap and continue now to breathe normally, opening your eyes and tuning back into your environment.

Warmly,
Gillian

    About the Author

    -
Ever since I can remember I have worn and loved jewelry. I have pictures of myself at four years old, dripping in my mother’s long beads and clip on earrings.

Then while making jewelry as an adult, I began to wonder about the beautiful beads I was using - stones and crystals found in the earth - the colors, the swirls, the weight, and characteristics.

For years I have remained curious and open to this concept and do believe in the potential in wearing and using certain stones and crystals for added health benefits. But just like astrology, I take it as another tool in my toolbox, not someone to depend on entirely for major decision making, but to enhance my sense of well-being and with the world and nature which surround me.

I hope my blog posts peak your interest and shed light on a new topic - and if nothing else, inspire you
to pick stones which call to you and to wear more of the jewelry you love.
