Let's talk Spring Fashion, specifically Spring 2016's color report.

When I recently received an industry jewelry magazine that came my way in the mail, I almost tossed it. But breezing through, something caught my eye.  There was an article on the creation of a fashion color palette every season! (That is, fall and spring).  No I am not making this up. This fashion color palette which you can see in the image, is decided by the Patone Color Institute, who according to their website, "provides color trend forecasting, brand color development supported by brand color stories, and product palette development. We help companies make the most informed decisions about color for their brands or products to gain a competitive edge."

Who knew?! I must be really late to the party to have not seen this. And people are getting paid to create this forecasting? Pretty amazing.

As a jewelry designer who likes to stay on trend, I like the sound of this! So I chose to bring this up for my first blog in April. Although I would like to talk diamonds, April's birthstone, I don't use them in my designs. So let's venture off to the wide wide world of color, specifically gemstone colors.

The first is of course, "Rose Quartz" Magically I had made a Mala /bracelet design earlier this year with Labradorite and Rose Quartz together.   (See the mala here)
I love the soft, airy pink color of Rose Quartz. It is a great spring color and easy to match to.
What are healing energies of rose quartz?

My favorite necklace right is my druzy necklace which picks up the "Snorkel" blue color nicely. And I intend to mix it up with the "Serenity" color soon. They create such a calming, soothing affect on me, these colors.

"Limpet Shell" is so serene and is a big seller when it comes to jewelry of all kinds.  It is the color of the water I swam in when I went to Tahiti many years ago......unbelievable until you see it with your own eyes. So I created a necklace which is part of my new spring/summer collection.

The other colors in the palette are all great, so I better get back to creating and making. And thank goodness there's someone to guide me along!

With warmth, humor and a bit of humility,
Gillian

    About the Author

    -
Ever since I can remember I have worn and loved jewelry. I have pictures of myself at four years old, dripping in my mother’s long beads and clip on earrings.

Then while making jewelry as an adult, I began to wonder about the beautiful beads I was using - stones and crystals found in the earth - the colors, the swirls, the weight, and characteristics.

For years I have remained curious and open to this concept and do believe in the potential in wearing and using certain stones and crystals for added health benefits. But just like astrology, I take it as another tool in my toolbox, not someone to depend on entirely for major decision making, but to enhance my sense of well-being and with the world and nature which surround me.

I hope my blog posts peak your interest and shed light on a new topic - and if nothing else, inspire you
to pick stones which call to you and to wear more of the jewelry you love.
