Welcome to the month of September! This month holds a lot of transition for most of us. Think about it; what other month holds so much change: in routine, in weather, within your family dynamic?
Rather than resist, embrace this beautiful opportunity to change it up for yourself! Bring on some emotional healing, some new thoughts to break habits, to open up, to look inside and cleanse yourself inside out. Quoting the great, late Wayne Dyer, "Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process your life as it is, rather than as you think is should be." The words emotional healing can scare away many of us because it often means unpeeling your feelings like an onion, diving into deeper places which you may have never uncovered or even realized were present. But this is the work your hear yoga teachers mentioning. We deepen our yoga practice with it. We face what is here, what is now, what is in front of us knocking at the door. Finding and removing the emotional stuck stuff can bring the greatest rewards in your life, bringing you a sense of lightness and freedom. Some pain can be dropped quickly and some can take years to fully release. There really is no right or wrong, and there certainly is no timetable involved.
The beautiful semi-precious stone, Green Amethyst (yes there is a green form!) is lovely to wear during this time of transition and just happens to look beautiful with autumn's color scheme.
GREEN AMETHYST (Prasiolite)-Silicon dioxide mineral, member of Quartz family
Key Words: Heart Awakening, Self-Acceptance, Compassion for self and others
Chakras: Heart (4th), Crown (7th), Third Eye (6th), Solar Plexus (3rd)
Emotional: Green Amethyst is a bridge between the lower chakras (more physical life concerns) and higher chakras (higher, spiritual existence). It is a heart chakra stone, so it will raise inner vision, and allow the heart to rule both thoughts and actions in life. It ultimately awakens the heart to receive love, share love, and is a "Stone of Namaste", reminding us to recognize Divine Spirit in all living things.
Physical: Aids digestion, heart issues, may help with eating disorders
Take time to feel the fresh cooling air of Autumn; breath it all in. This is your time to waken and find that what you seek, may be already seeking you.

Are you drawn to Amethyst? There is good reason. Amethyst is a quartz, semi-precious stone. It ranges from light pink to deep purple, indigo and violet, with violet bringing the highest vibration. It is also the traditional birthstone for February. The name comes from Greek ἀ a- ("not") and μέθυστος méthystos ("intoxicated"). It makes sense then, that Ancient Greeks wore amethyst and made drinking vessels decorated with it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication. Perhaps this is why Amethyst is often used to recover from addictions and bad habits that generally cause imbalance and negativity.
Key Words for Amethyst are: Protection, Spirituality, and Addiction Release.
The chakras related are: Third Eye (6th) and Crown (7th).
What is special about this stone? Emotionally, it is considered the Stone of the Mind, leading to a more meditative state by calming the monkey mind. It will allow you to gain insight and clarity both in mind and body. Amethyst is a stone of purification and spiritual protection and expansion. Use it to aid in overindulgence and physical addictions. It wards off negativity. Use during meditation to bring clarity to imbalance caused by destructive behaviors and thoughts.
Physically, Amethyst is also great to combat insomnia, brain function and balance, and nerve disorders. It is also believed to strengthen the immune system and help heal imbalances of the respiratory tract and skin.
In Feng Shui, amethyst is used for its purification qualities, as well as its ability to connect to a higher vibrational energy. It can be used to calm the emotions in a household where there are excessive arguments. It can also help with study and learning.
It is an excellent feng shui cure for the following areas: Northeast (Spiritual Growth and Self-Cultivation, Southeast (Wealth and Abundance), as well as South (Light Within/Fame & Reputation). You can also place a small amethyst cluster in your child’s room, office, or even living room. If you are going thru an intensely emotional, rocky time in your life, you can put amethyst in your pocket (a small polished rock), and also in your car.
