Feeling depleted? Yes you! Do you prioritize yourself? Learn about Labradorite and how it relates to Finding Time For YOU.
You may have heard the phrase “You cannot pour from an empty pitcher.” My mother said this to me too many times to count.
Are you listening? You know I know that you are doing too much.
Where does it come from anyway? Women especially can be prone to overdoing, over worrying, over analyzing.
Maybe we just love, care about others. But possibly more then we care, love ourselves?
We give and give until we are depleted, worn down, anxious, pissed off, annoyed, you name it.
And then, we get sick. Which is what happened to me recently. Yes technically it is the end of the flu season, but this girl still managed to sneak in time for it. A full week of it. The aches, the fever, chills, you name it, I had it. Aghh. But I rested. Forced myself to lie in bed and sleep. Drink liquids. Replenish my reserves, despite my kids banging at the door, despite the phone ringing, despite all life out there, happening while I stayed in bed, watching and witnessing.
Here’s some truth. You are capable! But you are not invincible. What I learn time and time again is that you must put You first. In each of us there is a well of energy that needs to be continually filled, replenished. Sometimes, however, we choose (it is a choice after all) to put others in front of us- overscheduling ourselves, ignoring our own needs. We then become depleted, exhausted, weaker, less ourselves. We have all heard this a million times-yet we continue to do it again and again!
I invite you to take time back for yourself today. Focus on nurturing yourself, whether it is that gym or yoga class, maybe reading for an hour, taking a walk in nature outside (thank God it’s Spring!) NOW is the time to do it. Don’t procrastinate yourself. It is not being selfish. For the more empty you fill physically, emotionally, spiritually, the less you have to offer. WE must renew, restore, refill our pitchers. Continually and mindfully. And soon we learn that making space for our efforts in bettering ourselves also affords a unique opportunity to learn about ourselves, our needs, and our tolerances in surprising ways.
Another way to to increase growth and self-discovery, strength, protection, and magic in your life? Wear Labradorite. This is by far my favorite stone. Think of it as holding your feet as you fly.
Labradorite is a feldspar mineral, first discovered on the Isle of Paul, near Nain, Labrador, Canada. It was discovered there in 1770 by a Moravian missionary. It is remarkably lovely for its color play of green, blue, black, and gold.
Physically, it amplifies thoughts and prayers and will reveal patterns that provoke illness in the body. It can alleviate pains for people that are sensitive to changing weather or temperatures.
Emotionally, Labradorite enhances inner awareness through self-discovery and communication with one’s highest self. It promotes strength of will around changing situations. It can therefore decrease insecurity, anxiety and stress. Labradorite brings patience to the holder. It unites the personal self with the understanding required to both realizing and achieving one’s destiny. It can bring “magic” to the wearer in the form of finding a divine purpose in life, allowing destiny to quick in. Self-mastery is the only true way to fulfillment.
Some believe that it gives the wearer protection from negativity and those “emotional vampires,” people who sap your energy, physically, emotionally, spiritually. I bet someone came to mind immediately for you, no?
When these negative influences are removed you will feel strengthened and your fears will be alleviated. You will therefore perhaps, put your needs first to then work better with other people. This is why some people see Labradorite as a stone that grants willpower and self-confidence. As Labradorite calms your mind it will bring balance to your life.
Just look at Labradorite, the cracks and how light reflects off this stone. Perhaps you could decide this stone is a metaphor for you: protective, strong, with multi-layers of beauty for all to see.
Here’s to getting YOU back: renewed, refreshed, energized, yourself.
Ever since I can remember I have worn and loved jewelry. I have pictures of myself at four dripping in my mother’s long beads and clip on earrings. Then while making jewelry as an adult, I began to wonder about the beautiful beads I was using… stones and crystals found in the earth- the colors, the swirls- the weight, characteristics. For years I have remained curious and open to this concept and do believe in potential in wearing and using certain stones and crystals for added health benefits. But just like astrology, I take it as another tool in my toolbox, not someone to depend on entirely for major decision making, but to enhance my sense of well-being and with the world and nature which surround me. I hope my blogs may educate you and peak your interest, and if nothing else, inspire you, to pick stones which call to you. and to wear more of the jewelry you love.
