Hi there!
It’s been a while since I have been in touch. Yet know friends, that I have been thinking and creating and working toward future shows! But I wondered while making my pieces, what are the trends for summer jewelry? And as I began to explore a few months ago there were some stand outs.  Of course, we know a major component of jewelry wearing is to emphasize your individual style. But it is good to be a little ahead when purchasing, whether for you or someone else.  So I will share some of them for you so you are in the KNOW.

Number 1: Simplicity

Jewelry is getting smaller.
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I know, big statement jewelry is still here but in addition there has been made room for their simpler, more refined, lost cousins. Think simplicity- one pendant hanging from a long chain necklace, or elegant hoop earrings. Paola de Luca, creative director and forecaster for Italy-based Trendvision Jewelry, says: ….”the complexity of modern life creates the need for simplicity. For the minimalist consumer, fluid lines, airy designs, and lightweight pieces with touches of diamonds and semiprecious stones meet layered designs, including abstract patterns cut out with alternative materials or metal.”

Number 2: Layering
Did you catch that? Layered designs are hot.  You can still make a statement with big jewelry, but now a large draping necklace is replaced with layering lightweight and minimalistic pieces. It’s achieving the same look with less physical weight, creating uncomplicated jewelry that is still attractive and original.

Number 3: Chokers

It’s all about the choker, or resemblance of. Hitting anywhere around the neck as a choker necklace or above the décolletage, this necklace demands attention, and offers face-framing flattery all at once. What I like about the choker is that one can easily layer with it, and you can evoke a sexy, fun look right away.

Number 4: Ear Candy

Large or small dangles, you’ll see more color than ever before, statement earrings, and fun, whimsical looks. So if you don’t like necklaces here is your opportunity to wear earrings to complete your Look. And in the summer, frame your face and go bold with great ear candy.

Number 5: Industrial Revolution
Chain necklaces, metal components mixed with crystals and pearls for a softer edge....it's modern vintage in its rawest form. What I love about this mix is that it marries rough and delicate to create a killer mood. Go for oxidized metals, such as oxidized sterling silver for an antiqued look.

Happy Summer!

    About the Author

    -
Ever since I can remember I have worn and loved jewelry. I have pictures of myself at four years old, dripping in my mother’s long beads and clip on earrings.

Then while making jewelry as an adult, I began to wonder about the beautiful beads I was using - stones and crystals found in the earth - the colors, the swirls, the weight, and characteristics.

For years I have remained curious and open to this concept and do believe in the potential in wearing and using certain stones and crystals for added health benefits. But just like astrology, I take it as another tool in my toolbox, not someone to depend on entirely for major decision making, but to enhance my sense of well-being and with the world and nature which surround me.

I hope my blog posts peak your interest and shed light on a new topic - and if nothing else, inspire you
to pick stones which call to you and to wear more of the jewelry you love.
